The book therefore sketches out some of the new directions of FPE research, practice and analysis that have emerged through WEGO’s transnational, transdisciplinary, cross-generational conversations over the past five years. As Lyla Mehta articulates in her Forward for the volume, the book is "foregrounding multiple ways of knowing and being, thus enabling new conceptions of politics, justice and alternatives to dominant, capitalist development trajectories." WEGO (Wellbeing, Ecology, Gender and cOmmunity) was the first European Innovative Training Network (ITN) on Feminist Political Ecology. With funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska – Curie research and innovation programme (grant agreement No. 764908-WEGO 2018-2021), the WEGO network, made up of 20 institutions, began in 2018 and financially came to a close at the end of June 2022. Together, the institutions from India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, Uruguay, US and Europe hosted and supported fifteen Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) and engaged in different collaborations, that also extended beyond the network. These included, organising FPE Dialogues, organising annual Training Labs, co-authoring Ethical Protocols for the network, co-curating exhibitions, organising conference panels, co-organising the International Degrowth Conference 2021: Caring Communities for Radical Change, producing videos, websites and podcasts, as well as co-writing numerous journal articles, blogs and book chapters. The latter has resulted in two open access, edited volumes: Feminist Methodologies: Experiments, Collaborations and Reflections and Contours of Feminist Political Ecology. |
