Danny Morrison *1953 in Belfast is an author, writer and commentator. He has published several books of fiction and non-fiction. He is an Irish Republican and was closely associated with the Provisional IRA and Sinn Féin from the early 60. He is the former National Director of Publicity for Sinn Féin and was associated with the group of Martin McGuiness and Gerry Adams. He was a critic of the IRA strategy of indiscriminate killings in the 70s and 80s. He was imprisoned in Long Kesh in1972 and subsequently became the spokesman for IRA prisoner Bobby Sands MP who died on hunger strike on May 5th 1981. He was arrested on questionable charges in 1990 and released in 1995. The charges were overturned in 2008. Currently he is the secretary of the Bobby Sands Trust and the editor of two Northern Irish papers: Republican News and An Phoblacht.
