We want to create spaces for dialogue, orientation, and participation — both informally through everyday peer support and structurally by encouraging engagement in university bodies such as the student parliament or faculty groups. In the long term, we also aim to build a sustainable alumni network that supports lasting connections beyond graduation. The name Ubuntu Mondo blends Ubuntu—an African concept of humanity, community, and mutual responsibility, often translated as “I am because we are”— with Mondo, the Esperanto word for “world.” It represents our vision of a welcoming, supportive, and globally connected academic community.
