PhD candidate Julia Rometsch, M.A. visited the Forestry Department of the Dolphin Institute in Dehradun, India where she held a guest lecture on the gender aspects of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), a technique for gathering qualitative data on spatial and social aspects of rural life. The lecture stressed the importance to be aware of gender hierarchies and its effects on the process of data gathering. It was well received by the students of forestry and instantly put into practice as part of their PRA exercise held by Julia Rometsch and Dr. Sas Biswas in the village Doonga near Dehradun.
