The European Association for Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS) held its last conference from 11 to 14 August 2015 in Vienna, Austria. The event was organised by the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna, in cooperation with the Institute for Social Anthropology at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and other academic institutions based in Vienna. Scholars and PhD students from all academic disciplines with a research interest in Southeast Asia participated.
At the EuroSEAS Prof. Dr. Martina Padmanabhan led together with Petra Dannecker (University of Vienna) a workshop titled: „Is Gender Women? Taking Stock of Southeast Asian Studies on Gender”. At this workshop Prof. Padmanabhan gave a presentation with the following title „Gendering the Human-Nature Nexus in Southeast Asia: Implications of a Social-Ecological Perspective”
Dr. Kristina Großmann was discussant at the panel "Transforming the Environment – Transforming Gender Relations? Women, Men and Environmental Change in Southeast Asia" conducted by Dr. Michaela Haug, University Collogne. In this panel she was also presenting on the topic "Gaharu King – Family Queen? The Gaharu Boom: Gender Symmetries and new Evolving Masculinities in Kalimantan, Indonesia."
Furthermore, she presented together with Andrea Höing (University Bonn) at the panel "Rivers of Borneo"of Dr. Oliver Pye (University Bonn) on the topic "Between Conservation and Development. Local perceptions from the upper part of the Barito River: A case study."
