Since 2014, graduates of the University of Passau have been taking part in the Bavarian Graduate Study (BAS), which is conducted annually by the Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Research and Planning. A total of five universities and eight universities of applied sciences (HAWs) in Bavaria are currently participating in this study.
This year, the graduates of the University of Passau once again awarded excellent grades to their degree programmes. Overall, 77 percent of graduates of the University of Passau are very satisfied or satisfied with their studies. In contrast, only 68 percent of former students from other universities in Bavaria were as positive on average.
The current results also reflect the measures taken by the University of Passau to improve the international orientation of the degree programme: the category of international offerings (study assessment and internship) was rated as "very good" or "good" by 59 percent of the University of Passau graduates surveyed. At other Bavarian universities, only 52 percent of those surveyed rated this aspect as "very good" or "good".
In addition, 69 percent of graduates from the University of Passau rated the appropriate distribution of workload as "very good" or "good", while this figure is only 63 percent at other Bavarian universities.
"The fact that our students also rate their time at the University of Passau so positively in retrospect is a confirmation of our strategic orientation”, said Vice President for Studies, Teaching, Ethics and Quality Assurance, Professor Bettina Noltenius.
For the current BAS evaluation, 6,564 former students who graduated from a Bavarian university or HAW in 2022 and 2023 were surveyed. The response rate for the University of Passau was 25 percent.
